Rachel Riley wraps final Countdown episode before maternity leave – Mirror Online
Rachel Riley is preparing to become a mother for the second time.
The TV star, already shares daughter Maven, one, with her husband Pasha Kovalev – who rose to fame as a professional dancer on Strictly Come Dancing – and has previously revealed that their new addition is due this month.
And on Friday, the maths whizz confirmed that she has wrapped up work ahead of giving birth as she shared a message on Twitter to commemorate her final day on Countdown before her family grows.
The star will still appear on-screen until December as there is a delay between the show being filmed after that and Dr Anne-Marie Imafidon will fill in for Rachel until she returns from maternity leave.
Sharing a farewell message, the 35-year-old uploaded several snaps – including one of a tiny onesie with the Countdown logo printed across the front – and typed on Twitter: “Well that’s it from me, I’ve officially finished filming to pop a baby out!
“You’re stuck with me on screen till December when the totally amazing @aimafidonwill be keeping the numbers in line till I’m back next year! Hope you have loads of fun Anne-Marie, best of luck lovely!”
Rachel and Pasha – who tied the knot in Las Vegas 2019 – announced they were expecting their second child back in April.
“We’re looking forward to welcoming them into this world, sometime in October,” Strictly Come Dancing star Pasha previously told OK! magazine.
The couple, who met on the set of Strictly in 2013, also told of their joy about having two children under the age of two.
He continued: “I think it’s great because this helps them feel closer together. It will give them a chance to bond better because having a bigger age gap between them could leave them feeling more separated.”
Speaking to MailOnline about motherhood, Rachel said: “We’ve bashed them out! Get the sleep deprivation over in one go is the plan.
“I’m 35 and I’ve got friends that are struggling with fertility, and you just never know if you’re going to be able to get pregnant.
“We have been really lucky, touch wood and we’re very excited. They’re great, we weren’t sure if we wanted them before and we’re just both in love, it’s lovely.”
