New York Giants player Logan Ryan says wife Ashley is ‘recovering well’ after close call with health amid ectopic pregnancy … after critical advice from team trainer

New York Giants player Logan Ryan says his wife Ashley is ‘recovering well’ after she had a close call with her health amid an ectopic pregnancy, and critical advice from team trainer ‘could have saved her life.’

The 29-year-old athlete, speaking on a Zoom call with the media, said trainer Justin Maher gave he and his wife guidance that might ‘have saved her life.’

‘That was a trainer on our team, Justin Maher, telling my wife to go to the ER at 1 a.m. It could have saved her life or saved a lot of internal bleeding there,’ said the defensive player.

The latest: New York Giants player Logan Ryan, 29, says his wife Ashley is ‘recovering well’ after she had a close call with her health amid an ectopic pregnancy, and critical advice from  the team trainer ‘could have saved her life.’ The couple was snapped with their daughter Avery, five, and son Otto Dash, two, in June

‘She ended up going to surgery … and they ended up saving her and preventing a lot of what could have been done,’ said Ryan, who has also played for the New England Patriots and Tennessee Titans.

Ashley took to Instagram Stories Wednesday to open up about the trying series of events.

They occurred as she was in her native Florida to cast her vote in the presidential election, while Ryan was with the team in New Jersey preparing for this week’s game against the Washington Football Team.

Ashley said that she communicated about her abdominal pain to her husband over a series of texts, and he reached out to his team’s medical staff for their assessment of things.

‘As much as I wanted to eat some Tums and try to go back to sleep, I followed this trainer’s advice, and my sister took me to the ER,’ she said.

Ashley said doctors told her that in an occurrence where ‘the chances of this are less than one percent,’ she was pregnant (as she had an IUD), but it ‘was not viable’ and causing her to bleed internally.

‘The pregnancy was ectopic and had implanted in my fallopian tube,’ she said. ‘The pain was unbearable. The emotions that followed were unbearable. I am still sorting through most of this in my own head.

‘Why was I that one percent? What does this mean for the future? How that trainer quite possibly saved my life.’

Ashley said that she was ‘so thankful for a husband who smiled at the potentially life changing news of an unexpected pregnancy and was on board and ready for the adventure even though it wasn’t in the plans.’

She added that ‘Logan’s support never wavers’ and that his ‘strength gives me strength and our hearts are so aligned.’
