Laura Whitmore has explained why she’s shunned what she calls “traditional” maternity wear in favour of her chic pregnancy wardrobe.

The Love Island host, 35, took to her Instagram account on Thursday morning to post a picture of herself wearing a skimpy red summer dress and sky high heels.

In the caption, she explained that she wants to wear nice clothes that will last until after she gives birth, and to not have to throw them away when her bump goes down.

Laura is expecting her first child with her husband Iain Stirling, with the baby expected to be born this month.

In her post she looked typically stylish in the red frock, which had a flared, asymmetrical hemline and frills down the side.

Laura teamed the dress with a pair of red platform heels, which she matched with some white socks with bows on.

Her blonde locks were worn down and pushed to one side.

She also filmed a video of herself showing off her outfit and twirling her dress around.

“I love it,” she said in the clip.

In her caption she explained why she hasn’t changed the way she dresses during her pregnancy.

Laura wrote: “You may have noticed I haven’t exactly been into traditional maternity wear.

“I like fashion and being pregnant doesn’t change that.

“Anything I’ve added to my wardrobe have been pieces I hope to wear long term not just for a few months and then waste (and maternity wear tends to be boring).

“It’s just about finding the right shapes.”

Laura and Iain were married at Dublin’s City Hall in front of 25 guests, which was the maximum allowed by Ireland’s coronavirus rules, last year.

Shortly after news that they had married, Laura shared that she was pregnant in a post on Instagram.

She posted a photo of a baby onesie with Guns N’ Roses Sweet Child O’ Mine emblazoned on it.
