US blogger Lori Alexander’s ‘ignorant’ chart about employed mothers has sparked outrage

A Christian blogger from the US has caused controversy after posting a handwritten flowchart criticising working mothers on Facebook.

Lori Alexander, who blogs under the name The Transformed Wife, blasted mums who have jobs for feeding their kids ‘microwaved meals’ and not being there to ‘teach them about Jesus’. She added that their lives must be “falling apart” and that they don’t feel they are good wives and mothers.

She also claims that working mothers will be too tired to be ‘intimate’ with their husbands, whereas stay-at-home mums will do so frequently.

The blogger concludes her chart by saying that the working mother’s “life is falling apart. She doesn’t feel like she’s a good wife or mother.”

She adds that on the contrary the stay-at-home mum’s “life is fulfilling. Her husband and children rise up + call her blessed!”

The post has, predictably, caused uproar on social media, and the chart has attracted over 1,700 comments since it was posted earlier this month.

One woman wrote: “Oh, dear. Bless your poor ignorant little heart, what are you on about?

“This is wildly inaccurate, and honestly you should be ashamed of yourself for spreading this kind of judgement and divisiveness.”

Another added: “I feel very sorry for you and the myth you believe and perpetuate. This is not 1958 – you live in a world that fortunately no longer exists!”

This isn’t the first time Lori has sparked controversy with her posts.

She previously uploaded a bizarre handwritten letter about the Women’s Liberation Movement, saying it ‘took away’ what’s ‘most important’.

The post reads: “Women’s Liberation Movement. What were women being liberated from? They were being liberated from husbands, children, and homes. Women were made to falsely believe that they were in bondage by marrying, bearing children, and guiding the home (God’s perfect will for women I Time. 5:14).

“Now, instead, women are in bondage to a time clock, a boss, and a pay check. Hmm, what is better for culture?

“When women were focused upon their husbands, children and homes or upon time clocks, a boss, and a pay check? The Women’s Liberation Movement actually put women in bondage and took them away from what’s most important.”

In addition, Lori often writes out sexist Bible passages, including the following one about cooking for your husband, which she then shares to her followers.

The post reads: ‘If you’re cooking for your husband to be thanked, appreciated + praised, you’re cooking for him for the wrong reasons. When cooking and serving him for these reasons, you’ll most likely be frustrated, upset + angry often when he fails to deliver. We are wanted about loving the praise of men more than the praise of God (Jn 12:43).

“Cook for your husband because you were created to be his help meet and do it in willing obedience to the Lord, even if you never get thanked; for the greatest of all is the servant of all.

“Each meal you lovingly cook for him without expecting anything in return, you are storing your treasures in heaven and presenting ‘your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God which is your reasonable service’ (Romans 12:1).”
