Stacey Solomon won’t take much maternity leave | Entertainment Daily

by pregnancy journalist
Stacey Solomon has revealed that she won’t be taking a long period of maternity leave because she can never be sure where her next job will come from. During an interview on Lorraine,  Stacey opened up about her plans once her first child with boyfriend Joe Swash arrived. The mum-of-two wants to take some time out but she said it won’t be for too long because the nature of her TV work means she is self-employed. She also insisted she would be working close up to her due date, although that was somewhat scuppered by her tot arriving early. Stacey […]

by pregnancy journalist
null In this year’s edition of Motherly’s State of Motherhood survey, a small but significant number (10%) of mothers cited employer conditions not being conducive to working and parenting for a variety of reasons, including the work culture not being supportive. Fewer than 1-in-10 (9%) feel that becoming a mother has helped them in their career and the majority of those (59%) say they have felt that way since their child was a baby, indicating that this empowering is coming from within, rather than the workplace recognizing and validating the contributions of working moms. Many of the women surveyed are […]

“This photo was taken two days after our wedding day, in the ER. We didn’t tell anyone, but we found out four days before our wedding we were pregnant. I did everything right from the moment I found out, even switched out two bottles of wine with non-alcoholic wine so no one would notice I wasn’t drinking, but regardless, I miscarried late on our wedding night. We woke up the morning after our wedding in a pool of blood. I was only 5.5 weeks along and didn’t have an OB, so my primary doctor suggested we go to the ER. […]

Government servant entitled to maternity leave even if child is born shortly before joining service: Rajasthan High Court

by pregnancy journalist
After a lapse of around two years, the State government granted her leave for 90 days without salary. In July 2019, she was sanctioned leave for the 142 days she was away from work, out of which 90 days were considered as leave without payment and 52 days treated as extra ordinary leave without payment. Her request for paid maternity leave was however, rejected. The State counsel objected to the writ petition contending that it suffered from delay and laches. He stated that the petitioner’s request for maternity leave was considered by the government in its orders in 2018 and […]

Laura Newell: Juggle of working mums offers reason for a G&T on Friday | The West Australian

The sweet sounds of ice falling into a tall glass, the gentle splash of gin followed by the whoosh of rising bubbles from the tonic are at times the only things between me and insanity. Life as a working parent ain’t easy. It’s not a unique story, there are millions of us out here plugging away day after day just trying to make it to home time without completely losing it with a child, workmate, partner or unsuspecting bystander. It could be the third nappy blowout of the day all over that shirt you’ve just ironed for your big meeting, […]

HR Talk: 13 Questions Answered about the 105-Day Maternity Leave Law (And an Excel Calculator to Compute Mat Ben) – Tina in Manila

by pregnancy journalist
The RA No. 11210 105-Day Maternity Leave Law is one of the most highly celebrated laws passed by the Duterte government last 2019. Despite the hoopla surrounding this law, so many people are still confused about its application, specifically how the maternity benefit is computed. Even as I’ve browsed through multiple articles, so many writers still have the computation part wrong. “What’s the semester of contingency? How exactly do you compute salary differential?” To make things simpler, I have collated the following questions to make sense of this wonderful yet oftentimes confusing law for your reference: Updated with two additional […]
